I am clearly late to the Red Meat generator culture/movement, which makes the heavy notice from Max Cannon about the danger of the Red Meat comic ending with alt weeklies dropping comics. So it behooves me to flag this, even as I shamelessly exploited that inspired comic engine. And probably will do so again.

What's the message? Push the inclusion of edgy, funny comics in your weeklies, and make sure you let weeklies that do include such comics that you like them being there.

My wilty efforts at blogging (or tweeting, or even posting links on Facebook) are hampered by the consistency by which I am about 4 months behind news items or internet-cultural notables. That doesn't stop me from noticing, by accident, the noted Ebay sale of a Bernie Madoff "fleece" to darkly honour the astonishing criminal devastation he wrought.

I stumbled on this by also being 4 months behind on another simple pun, which only occurred to me this morning as I heard the news that Bernie pleaded guilty to the charges stemming from his Ponzi Scheme. (I add the link because I finally looked it up.) You guessed it: "Hey, Madoff sounds like 'made off', as in 'made off with millions ...'" I am so clever after a coffee.

Anyway, on news that the world's billionaire count has dropped, and with Bernie heading off for, what, 150 years of prison? -- with all this, I find myself starting at the friendly face of Mr. Ponzi himself. I'm taken by the fact I might like this man if I met him. I'd admire his jaunty ways, his slick fashion sense, that crooked smile. And I'd assuredly be as easy a rube as the next guy.
